Lyceum Poetry Contest

To celebrate National Poetry Month, the Gloucester Lyceum invites all students living in Gloucester to submit poetry on any theme.

Prizes for Students
$200 Savings Bonds for 1st place winners
$100 Savings Bonds for 2nd place winners
$50 Savings Bonds for 3rd place winners

Contest Rules

Submissions will be accepted from now until Saturday, May 15, 2010.
Please follow instructions on the online submission forms. All work is to be submitted on these forms to the Sawyer Free Library. Print submissions will not be accepted.

Students may enter up to three poems.

Poems may be no longer than 30 lines long.

Entries must include the student's name, email address, phone number, grade level and school.

All work must be original and unpublished.

Lyceum Committee members, their families, and the families of the judging panel are ineligible.



Winners will be announced in the Gloucester Daily Times and the Cape Ann Beacon, and their poems published here on the Sawyer Free Library website.

Winners will be presented with their savings bonds and certificates by Mayor Carolyn Kirk at a ceremony on Thursday, June 3 at 7pm.

Decisions of the judges will be final.
