Book a Room

The Sawyer Free Library has space available for reservation by small and large groups. Reservations may be made in person or by phone up to three (3) months in advance. Rooms may be reserved for not-for-profit civic, educational and cultural activities, as well as discussion of current public questions and concerns, and for-profit activities such as co-working, business meetings, and solo-entrepreneurship. Please see our Public Spaces Policy for more information.

Meetings should conform to the scheduled operating hours of the library.

All meetings held during the library’s operating hours must be free of charge and open to the public.

Artists, authors and performers whose programs are sponsored by the library may sell copies of their works only during the time allotted for their program.

Use of fire or flames is strictly prohibited.

Upon approval of the Library Director or designee, alcoholic beverages may be served only by a TIPS® (Training for Intervention Procedures) certified bartender. All alcohol service shall comply with state and municipal laws, ordinances and regulations. The organization shall provide evidence of insurance for the event.

Groups using the space assume responsibility for leaving it in a clean and orderly condition and for any damage to the room or its contents.

Weston U. Friend Room

The Weston U. Friend Room, conveniently located on the ground floor next to the Children’s Library, is ideal for lectures, large book groups, discussions, and more. It can accommodate approximately seventy (70) people and has a large, pull-down screen that pairs with our laptop projection system. The Friend Room is the regular home to many of our Children’s activities, such as Lego Club and Minecraft Club, as well as our Global Forum Book Club and Cookbook Club. It has also hosted countless lectures and unique events such as Nia yoga and Poetry and Puppies. Up to sixty (60) chairs are available for use, as well as eight (8) 5-foot, foldable tables. Room setup requests must be made at the time of booking, to assure availability.

Byers-Davidson Room

The Byers-Davidson room is one of our cozier options. Located on the first floor of the Saunders House, it can accommodate approximately eight (8) people. Upon request, we can also provide a podium, laptop projector and portable sound system. Room setup requests must be made at the time of booking, to assure availability.

Muzzey Room

The Muzzey Room is another small group option on the first floor of the Saunders House. It can accommodate approximately eight (8) people and has a mounted dry-erase board. Upon request, we can also provide a podium, laptop projector and portable sound system. Room setup requests must be made at the time of booking, to assure availability.
