Verify your identification and address
Stop by the Main Service Desk to present identification and proof of residency. Proof of residency can be a driver’s license, utility bill, or other non-personal piece of mail addressed to you. You will select a PIN to access your online account and for reserving museum passes.
That’s it! We’ll give you a card right away!
Sawyer Free Library provides two types of cards online. It all depends on what you want to do.
1. For immediate access to our online resources, you may request an Online Access Only card by submitting your information below. We will email you a patron number to get you started. This number will expire in six months. You may at any time during those six months, verify you identification and receive a permanent card.

2. For access to our local print and online collections , you will want to register online for a Local Use Only card. Local Use Only Cards provide access to our physical collections and public computers, as well as curbside pickup and home delivery until you verify your identification and proof of address.
Non-residents may also apply for a Local Use Only card.
If you are a Massachusetts resident, (by virtue of housing, employment or schooling whether full-time or part of a year) you can provide identification and proof of address by bringing your Massachusetts ID to the 1st Floor Service Desk in person, or by mailing or emailing us a copy of your photo ID .

Once verified, you will be able to access the physical and online collections of all NOBLE libraries, and the digital device collection of Sawyer Free Library.

|Children||Using your card @ other libraries|
|Children of any age can get their own library card but a parent or guardian must give consent if they are under the age of 12.||You can use your card at just about any public library in Massachusetts. In addition you may use your library card number to get an eCard from the Boston Public Library where you will have access to the Boston Public Library’s Overdrive collection of eBooks and audiobooks!|
