Get a Library Card


Get a Library Card!  Two Easy Ways




1. Apply for a library card in person




2. Apply for a library card online or by mail





Stop by the Main Service Desk to present identification and proof of residency.

Proof of residency can be a driver’s license, utility bill, or other non-personal

piece of mail addressed to you. If you are a student, we will need to see your

student ID or your most recent school schedule.

You will select a PIN to access your online account and for reserving museum passes.

That’s it!  We’ll give you a card right away!



Here’s what you need:  

  • Include a photocopy of your valid photo ID/ license or Passport with your current address. 
  • If your photo ID does not have your current address you must also email us a photocopy of a piece of official mail with your name and current address.  Examples:  utility bill, rental agreement, mortgage statement, etc. 
  • We will also need your phone number..
  • If you are a student, we will need to see your student ID or your most recent school schedule.  
  • Once we have all your documents, we will create and mail you a full service library card.

Children Using your card @ other libraries
Children of any age can get their own library card but a parent or guardian must give consent if they are under the age of 12.   You can use your card at just about any public library in Massachusetts. In addition you may use your library card number to get an eCard from the Boston Public Library where you will have access to the Boston Public Library’s Overdrive collection of eBooks and audiobooks!
