About Zines
What is a zine?
A zine (zeen), short for fanzine or magazine, is a DIY self-published work that is usually made on paper and photocopied. Zines are a medium for self-expression that are generally not represented in mainstream culture. They often provide a platform for people in marginalized or less-empowered communities to share their knowledge and experiences.
Why zines at the library?
The library strives to nourish creativity and provide perspectives from diverse voices. Zines provide the opportunity for both.

Donating Your Zine
We look forward to accepting zine donations from library users! Zines need to be in good condition and fit within our greater collection policy.

The Sawyer Free Library has two zine-making kits you are welcome to use in the library, one for adults/young adults and one for children.

Sawyer Free Library’s Zine Donation Form
The Sawyer Free Library collects zines created by the Cape Ann community and local and international zine creators. Zines must be in good condition.
