Summer Reading 2026

Thank you for participating in our Summer Reading Program this year! All winners will be notified for pickup of prizes!

Kids

Join our Summer Reading program, “Plant a Seed, Read.” Children of all ages are welcome to participate in the fun, which includes a summer full of free children’s events! Keep track of your reading using a reading log with stickers. To complete the reading program, we are asking you to read, or be read to, for 500 minutes from July 6 to August 14. Listening to books counts as reading too! You may register at the Children’s Desk, or online. Make sure to check out our amazing summer events for all ages!

Readers in kindergarten to grade six who complete 500 minutes of reading will receive a Topsfield Fair Prize Package: Read & Win Ribbon, Read and Win Certificate, one admission ticket to the fair, tickets for 2 rides, and one voucher for a hot dog and drink. Children under age 8 are always admitted to the fair for free. We will contact you later in the summer when your packet is available for pickup.

Everyone who registers will also be eligible to come in and pick out a free book of their choice! Registration has now closed for Children’s Summer Reading!

Teen/Tween

Join our Summer Reading Program for teens and tweens in grades 6–12! Read books all summer and earn rewards, raffle entries, and chances to win great prizes.

To get started, read a book and fill out the online form (or pickup the brochure in the Teen Room). You’ll receive a sign-up prize: a free half-pint of Holy Cow ice cream or another prize available at the Teen Room Service Desk.

For every book you read, you’ll earn raffle tickets. You can earn additional tickets by completing special missions, such as participating in Digital Learning Lab tech projects, writing book reviews, or attending library programs.

At the end of August, all raffle tickets will be entered into a drawing for a pizza party and gift card prizes. Winners will receive first-, second-, or third-place gift cards valued at $100, $75, and $50 to a selection of popular national retailers and local Cape Ann businesses.

For more information, visit the Teen/Tween page. Questions? Contact Annalise at akraines@sawyerfreelibrary.org.

Adults

Did you know summer reading is for adults too? Adults can join the fun by rating the books you read this summer to win prizes. To participate, complete a Book Rating Form online by Friday, August 14. For each book rated, you earn an entry in our raffle drawing for a $50 Greater Cape Ann Gift Check. We will select three winners. Questions? Contact Lisa at lryan@sawyerfreelibrary.org.

“Plant a Seed, Read” is sponsored by the Sawyer Free Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the Topsfield Fair.
