Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Sawyer Free Library! Join us in making a difference in our community. We greatly appreciate the valuable hours our dedicated volunteers contribute, which significantly enhance our library. By volunteering at the Library, you will gain experience in how the library serves the people of Gloucester and become an important part of our team. If you enjoy meeting and helping people, then share your talents and discover the rewards of giving your time and energy to an organization that enriches the lives of others everyday.*

• Must be at least 14 years old
• Submit necessary forms
• Volunteers ages 14-17 must include the permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian
• Make a 3-month commitment to a regular weekly schedule
• Pass a CORI background check **
• Attend a volunteer orientation

Please visit any public service desk to pick up an application packet and have it signed by Assistant Director Lisa Ryan. Once completed and signed, forms must be returned in person to the Personnel Department, City Hall, 9 Dale Avenue, 2nd Floor.

*At this time, we are not able to fulfill a request for court-ordered community service requirements.

**It is required by state law that all applicants – regardless of age – undergo a criminal background check (CORI) before they can actively volunteer in any part of the library.
